Built for yoga studio owners

Every class on the board gets a teacher, without a ten at night message to the group chat

MatCount holds your teachers' real availability, turns an open class into a sub request that the right people can claim in one tap, and adds up pay from the classes that were actually taught. You run the studio; the schedule stops running you.

What the week really looks like

The schedule is fine until one teacher gets the flu on a Tuesday

Nobody opened a studio to spend their evenings chasing eleven people across three apps. Here is where the hours and the money quietly go.

The group chat coverage scramble

One text to fourteen teachers, six replies, two of them from people who were never free that night anyway. The average studio owner we talk to spends 5 to 7 hours a week on coverage messages alone.

About $340 of your time a month

Classes that go out uncovered

When nobody claims a slot in time, the class gets pulled the morning of and twelve students find a locked studio door. Each cancelled evening class costs a mid size studio roughly $210 in class passes and a handful of memberships that quietly lapse.

$210 per cancelled class

Pay built from memory

Rates differ by teacher, by class type and by whether the room hit fifteen heads. Rebuilding that in a spreadsheet on the first of the month takes an afternoon and still produces two corrections.

4 hours and 2 corrections a month

Teachers who drift away

Good teachers leave for the studio that answers quickly and pays on time. Replacing one experienced vinyasa teacher costs a studio around $1,800 once you count auditions, sub coverage and the students who followed her.

How it works

Three moves, and the week holds itself together

Set it up once with your recurring grid and your teacher rates. After that the studio runs on the same rhythm every week.

  1. Teachers set the hours they can teach

Each teacher marks her recurring availability and blocks off the weeks she is away, from her phone, in about four minutes. You stop guessing who is free on a Thursday morning and you stop asking.

  2. An open class becomes a sub request

Tap the class, tap send. MatCount notifies only the teachers who are qualified for that style and available at that hour, and the first one to claim it takes the class. Everyone else gets a note that it is covered.

  3. The claim updates the schedule everywhere

The studio board, the teacher's own calendar and your booking platform all show the new name within seconds. The front desk does not have to be told, and the students who booked get the correct teacher.

  4. Pay is built from classes actually taught

Every taught class carries its rate, its head count and its bonus rule, so the pay run for the period is already written when you open it on the first. You review it, approve it and export it to your payroll provider.

What is inside

Everything the teacher side of a studio actually needs

No student booking, no marketing funnels, no modules you will never open. Six tools, each one earned by a real Tuesday.

Availability board

A single grid showing who can teach which hour, by style and by room, with vacation blocks already applied. Sort by qualification when you need a prenatal or a heated teacher specifically.

One tap sub requests

Send an open class to a filtered pool and let the first qualified teacher claim it, or hold it for a named short list for two hours first. Requests expire on a schedule you set so nothing sits unanswered overnight.

Class rate rules

Set a base rate per teacher, a different rate for workshops and privates, and a head count bonus that starts at whatever number your margin allows. The rules run themselves once they are written.

Pay run and exports

Each period closes into a line by line pay run per teacher, with taught classes, substitutions, workshops and bonuses separated. Export to CSV for your payroll provider or to a formatted PDF your teachers can read without calling you.

Booking platform sync

Two way sync with Mindbody, Momence, Walla and WellnessLiving keeps the public teacher name correct the moment a sub claims a class. Anything else connects through a calendar feed and a CSV import.

Coverage record

Every request, claim, decline and rate change is logged with a name and a time, so a disagreement about who was asked takes ten seconds to settle. It is also the trail your bookkeeper wants at year end.

What changes

The numbers studio owners report after one season

These come from 412 studios on MatCount, measured against the twelve weeks before they moved their schedule over.

11 min

Median time to cover a class

Because the request only reaches teachers who are qualified and free, the first claim usually lands before you have put your phone down. Studios that used a group chat were averaging just over three hours.

96%

Of open classes covered

Requests escalate on their own: named short list first, then the full qualified pool, then a text reminder ninety minutes before the deadline you set. Fewer than one class in twenty five still needs your personal phone call.

6 hrs

Given back every week

Coverage messages, availability questions and the monthly pay spreadsheet were the three big drains. Owners get that time back and most of them spend it on the floor teaching instead.

$2,100

Kept per quarter

Cancelled classes drop, pay corrections stop, and teachers stay longer because they are paid accurately on a date they can predict. A 60 student studio in Portland measured that figure across its first three months.

A week on the board

What the seven days look like once the studio runs on MatCount

Not a promise, a rhythm. This is the pattern the studios on the roster settle into by their third or fourth week.

Sunday evening, fifteen minutes

You open the week ahead and see three gaps: a Wednesday 12:00 restorative, a Friday 6:15 vinyasa and a Saturday workshop slot. Three taps sends three requests to the qualified pool. Two are claimed before you close the laptop.

Replaces a 40 message thread

Tuesday morning, a teacher wakes up sick

She marks the class as needing cover from her own phone at 5:40 a.m. The request goes to the four teachers who teach heated and are free at that hour, and the class is claimed at 5:51. You read about it afterward.

No 6 a.m. phone call to you

Thursday, a new teacher joins the roster

You add her, tag her styles, set her rate and send an invite. She sets availability that evening and is in the pool for the following week. Nothing about your bill changes, because you pay per studio.

Ten minutes, no extra charge

The first of the month, the pay run

Taught classes, subs, workshops and head count bonuses are already totaled per teacher. You scan the lines, fix the one workshop split you want handled differently, approve it and send the export to payroll.

Twenty minutes instead of an afternoon

Works with what you already run

Mindbody, Momence, Walla and WellnessLiving sync both ways with the teacher name on your public schedule. Google Calendar and Apple Calendar feeds keep each teacher's own week correct.

Made for the people on your roster

Teachers use it on a phone in a hallway between classes, so it stays a small number of large taps. There is no app to download and no password to reset before a 6 a.m.

Your records stay yours

Schedule history, teacher records and every pay run export to CSV whenever you want them. If you leave, you leave with the full file, not a screenshot.

From the studios

Owners who stopped negotiating coverage after dinner

Three studios, three very different rosters, the same Tuesday problem.

"I had a teacher text me at 9:40 on a Sunday night about the 6 a.m. I posted the sub request from bed and it was claimed before I finished brushing my teeth. That used to be an hour of my life and a bad night of sleep."

Nadia Okafor Owner, Third Coast Yoga, Chicago, Illinois

"The pay run is the part I did not expect to care about. Eighteen teachers, four rate tiers, workshop splits, and it comes out right on the first without me rebuilding a spreadsheet. My bookkeeper asked what changed."

Marisol Reyes Studio Director, Casa Prana Yoga, Austin, Texas

"We run two rooms across two neighborhoods and I could never see who was actually free. Now I look at one board, I know, and my teachers stopped feeling like they were being chased. Retention on the roster is the best it has been in six years."
